Tennis Betting News: Wimbledon Continues With Venus The First To Fall

It didn’t take long for the first upset of Wimbledon 2012, with Venus Williams falling to Russian Elena Vesnina in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. It marked the first time in 15 years that Williams lost her opening matchup at Wimbledon, as she never recovered after dropping the first five games. With the potential for Novak Djokovic to meet Roger Federer on the men side, and Serena Williams looking to avenge her sister’s loss on the women side in addition to several other interesting matchups, all eyes will be on this year’s Wimbledon tournament throughout the week.

MLB News: Red Sox Move On Without Youkilis For First Time In Eight Years

For the first time in more than eight seasons, the Boston Red Sox will play a game with Kevin Youkilis under contract with another team on Monday, as they open a three-game set at Fenway Park against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Red Sox have won eight of their last 10 games and are really heating up, and with three solid matchups against a Toronto team that has been plagued by injuries in recent weeks, it’s the perfect chance to make up some ground in the American League East, before heading to Seattle for a four-game set against the Seattle Mariners beginning on Thursday. Around the AL, the Cleveland Indians will be in tough to catch the White Sox for top spot with a three-game set against the New York Yankees, while a couple of teams projected to contend for the AL title this season will clash in Texas, as the Rangers host the Detroit Tigers.

NBA Sportsbook News: All Eyes On Howard Ahead Of NBA Draft Friday

With the NBA draft scheduled for this Friday, all eyes will be on Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard as at least two teams look to make a bid for him. The Houston Rockets have been rumored to be shopping hard for a top-10 draft pick to try and use as part of a package to send to Orlando in exchange for Howard, while the Brooklyn Nets will do everything they can to bring the All-Star center aboard and sign pending free agent Deron Williams to an extension. The consensus is that the New Orleans Hornets will use the top pick to draft center Anthony Davis regardless of what they are offered, but after that, trades should have a big impact on how the rest of the draft plays out.

Golf Pay Head News: Defending Champion Watney Looks To Get Going At AT&T National Thursday

Defending tournament champion Nick Watney will look to defend his title at the AT&T National this weekend, with play getting underway on Thursday at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. Watney has really struggled this season with only two top-10 finishes, and is currently ranked 70th on the 2012 PGA Tour money list, so he should be even more motivated to back up his tournament win a year ago with another strong showing.
