UFC Betting – Jackson Will Be Mean To Jardine

by BetOnline.com on July 11, 2013

UFC 96 betting is upon us as Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will square off with Keith Jardine in the main event of UFC 96. This will be the UFC’s first event back in North America after traveling to London, England for UFC 95.

Sportsbook odds have listed Jackson as the favorite for this fight and after his last fight with Wanderlei Silva, it’s hard to argue with that.

Jackson had a tumultuous 2008 season after losing to Forrest Griffin in a controversial defeat and then having some legal troubles as well. But online sports betting handicappers know that when he’s on, he’s one of the best fighters around.

Jackson’s focus will come in question as bettors handicap the Jackson vs Jardine lines simply because after Jackson dominated Silva, a lot of people – including Jackson – felt that he was on a collision course with Rashad Evans. That still might be the case but for now, Jackson has to deal with the Dean of Mean, Keith Jardine.

Jardine has a history of playing spoiler, especially when he feels that he is being overlooked. Jardine always fights with a chip on his shoulder so Jackson can’t take him lightly or Jackson will once again be surprised with the result.

The reality for Jackson is this: if he can’t beat Jardine, he doesn’t deserve a title shot. But most people, including the sportsbook oddsmakers, simply don’t expect Jackson to lose.

In total, Jackson has lost only once in the UFC, which was a very close and controversial decision to Forrest Griffin. Outside of that, Jackson has been fairly dominant.

Jackson is capable of beating Jardine any way they fight and in the end, that will be the difference. On their feet or on the ground, Jackson is better in every aspect. As long as he is focused on Jardine and not the bright lights that will come from a potential matchup with Evans, Jackson should roll to an easy victory.
