Super Bowl XLIII Betting – Ward says he’ll be up for “Big Game”

by BetOnline.com on January 23, 2009

Super Bowl XLIII betting is picking up steam, and online sports betting players are waiting to see who will be healthy for this year’s edition of the “Big Game”, to be held in Tampa Bay. The biggest worry comes from Hines Ward, and his absence would surely cause a change in the Pittsburgh Steelers odds.

Ward suffered a knee sprain in the first quarter of the Steelers’ 23-14 win over Baltimore in the AFC championship game, and although he returned briefly, Ward was clearly not the same player and sat out the second half. Losing Ward would be a massive blow to the Pittsburgh Steelers odds, as the feisty wide receiver was the MVP when the Steelers beat Seattle back in Super Bowl XL. Ward led the Steelers in receiving yards during the regular season and playoffs, and he’s arguably the best blocking receiver in the game. This will help the Steelers get their ground game going, and that would keep Arizona’s high-powered offense on the sidelines.

The Cardinals have no injury concerns to report yet, but there are still questions about Anquan Boldin’s argument with offensive coordinator Todd Haley during their 32-25 win over Philadelphia. Boldin is integral to the Arizona Cardinals odds, because the Steelers will rush Kurt Warner relentlessly, and Boldin will often be the receiver running short routes or over the middle. The Cardinals’ Super Bowl XLIII betting chances will have a lot to do with their talented, but unhappy, receiver.
