NHL hockey betting – Penguins will finally start a winning streak

by BetOnline.com on March 26, 2013

Sportsbook odds only feature a handful of games on a relatively light Wednesday in NHL betting. But there’s still plenty for online sports betting players to get excited about, as Ovechkin’s Capitals visit Crosby’s Penguins and the Red Wings head to Anaheim to battle the Ducks.

Capitals vs Penguins odds

Flash back to October and a Capitals vs Penguins line was as good as it gets for NHL betting fans, featuring (arguably) the game’s best three players and two major Eastern-Conference contenders. Flash back a week ago and NHL odds would’ve pegged the Capitals vs Penguins line as a cakewalk for Washington against struggling Pittsburgh.

Now, things are changing again. The Capitals, despite sporting a 27-14-3 record, have suddenly lost three straight games. They’re also only 9-11-2 on the road, which means travelling to Pittsburgh will be a tough NHL betting test. The Penguins (21-19-4), who have been miserable of late, beat the Flyers in a major hockey betting upset on the road last night. Could it be the slump buster they’ve been searching for? Those who bet on hockey should bet online on Pittsburgh tonight; not only are they heading home after a big road win, Sidney Crosby will be extra fired up to face Alexander the GR8 and the Caps. The Pens will be more motivated than the Caps, who aren’t the same team on the road.

Online betting pick: Penguins

Red Wings vs Ducks odds

The Wings and Ducks may not be bitter rivals, but they certainly have history. They met in the playoffs a few times over the last decade and Wings coach Mike Babcock once helmed the Ducks. Those past ties will be enough to make the Red Wings vs Ducks line a tight one.

Those who bet on hockey have to give the edge to Detroit on this one. The Wings, 13-4-4 on the road, haven’t lost in regulation in 2009. Goalie Ty Conklin has been sensational of late, proving once again that he excels when given regular playing time. All-World center Pavel Datsyuk is also on fire, with 25 points in his last 14 games. While the Ducks are no pushover – especially with rookie sniper Bobby Ryan setting the world on fire lately – they’ll be no match for the mighty Wings on Wednesday. Bet online for Detroit to take this one by two goals or less.

Online betting pick: Red Wings
