NFL Betting – Buccaneers, Raiders, Among NFL’s Biggest Underdogs Of The Year

by Dirty on October 9, 2009

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Oakland Raiders were pegged to be among the worst teams in the NFL according to NFL odds makers and so far, they have been bang on. As we take a look at the Week 5 NFL matchups, which are almost all up in the sportsbook, the Bucs and the Raiders are among two of the biggest underdogs that we’ve seen this NFL season.

The Bucs are a 12-point dog in Philadelphia and it’s hard to argue with that line. The Bucs have been an absolute nightmare since they fired Jon Gruden to the point where you have to question what this franchise is doing.

The Bucs have more than $30 million in cap space, yet decided not to help out their team in free agency. On top of that, the Bucs fired their offensive coordinator just days before the season started, which gives you a pretty good indication that the coaching staff is not on the same page right now.

After three weeks of Byron Leftwich starting, coach Raheem Morris said that the team will stick with him only to change his mind less than 24 hours later.

To emphasize how bad the Bucs have been, they had the benefit of four turnovers from Washington last week but still were unable to win the game.

This week, they head to Philadelphia to face the rested Eagles. Needless to say, not many NFL picks will be siding with the Buccaneers this weekend.

The other pirate team in the NFL – the Raiders – aren’t looking so hot either.

The Raiders, whose head coach may get arrested this week, are an absolute mess. Reports surfaced earlier this week that quarterback JaMarcus Russell, who is having an absolutely abysmal season, has been missing multiple team activities and meetings per week. On top of that, he has been fined regularly by the Raiders for being overweight.

The Raiders’ entire team is a mess right now and what better city to be heading to when your team is in disarray. The Giants have looked like one of the best teams in football so far this season and they get to play one of the worst.

Needless to say, that’s why the Raiders are the biggest underdog that we’ve seen in the NFL this season. Not many sports betting blog writers will be siding with them as they visit Giants Stadium.
