NCAA Tournament Preview: St. Mary's Gaels vs. Villanova Wildcats

The St. Mary’s Gaels and the Villanova Wildcats will both be gunning for a victory on Saturday when they meet at Dunkin Donuts Center.

Oddsmakers currently have the Wildcats listed as 4½-point favorites versus the Gaels, while the game’s total is sitting at 152½.

Omar Samhan drained 29 points with 11 rebounds for a double-double in leading St. Mary’s to an 80-71 win over Richmond in the first-round of the NCAA tournament on Thursday. St. Mary’s won the game as 1.5-point underdogs, while the 151 points made it OVER the posted total of 136.

Mickey McConnell added 23 points for St. Mary’s, and Clint Steindl chipped in with 11 points in that win.

Villanova clawed their way back in the second half and pulled out a 73-70 win over Robert Morris in the first-round of the NCAA tournament on Thursday. Villanova could not cover the 16.5-point spread, and the combined score went UNDER the day’s posted total of 146.

Scottie Reynolds poured in 20 points, while Mouphtaou Yarou added 17 points and eight rebounds in that win.
