March Madness betting players probably shouldn’t expect Stanford or Oregon State to go deep into the “Big Dance”, but their first-round meeting in the Pac-10 tournament on Wednesday should be worth a sportsbook consideration as the Beavers will be going for their third win of the year over the Cardinal.
Stanford vs Oregon State odds – Wednesday, March 11, 9:00 PM ET
The No.9 Cardinal’s (17-12, 6-12) inability to stop their opponents was their downfall this year, as they were 322nd in opposition field-goal percentage. This is largely due to Stanford’s lack of size inside, where opponents had their way. Senior guard Anthony Goods leads an efficient offense that can shoot the three, but until the Cardinal can shut teams down (or at least slow them) in the post, Stanford’s online betting odds won’t be that great.
No.8 Beavers (13-6, 7-11) had the opposite problem, as they have one of the nation’s worst offenses at 59.7 points a game. But their defense keeps them in games, as they are 58th in the country in points allowed. Sophomore guard Calvin Haynes is the only Beaver above 10 points a game, notching 14.4, but other than that, you won’t get much offense out of Oregon State.
The Beavers beat the Cardinal twice this year by an average margin of 13.5 points, and in those two games, Oregon State shot an average of 57.9%, while holding Stanford to 42.1%. Two of junior center Roeland Schaftenaar’s biggest games have come against the Cardinal because of their inability to guard the low post, so expect Oregon State to try this once again. Make Oregon State your online betting pick on Wednesday.
