NASCAR Goody’s Fast Relief 500 Preview

Betting on NASCAR Racing The drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will next take to the track on April 3 in the Goody’s Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

Kevin Harvick claimed the checkered flag in the series’ last event, the Auto Club 400 at Fontana. Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, and Ryan Newman followed Harvick across the finish line in that race.

Carl Edwards, Clint Bowyer, Brian Vickers, Kasey Kahne, and Juan Montoya also picked up Top-10 results at Fontana over the weekend.

Edwards leads Newman by nine points in the updated driver standings after five events, with Kurt Busch 10 points back of the leader in third place. Kyle Busch and Johnson round out the standings’ current Top 5.

Denny Hamlin has won each of the past three Cup events at Martinsville, taking the checkered flag in the 2010 Tums Fast Relief 500, the 2010 Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500, and the 2009 Tum’s Fast Relief 500. Hamlin also won the Goody’s Cool Orange 500 at Martinsville in 2008.

Johnson has had a lot of Cup success at Martinsville as well, visiting Victory Lane there six times since 2004. Jeff Gordon has seven career Cup wins at Martinsville, but he hasn’t picked up a victory there since the 2005 season.

Tony Stewart (with two), Mark Martin (with two), Kurt Busch, and Jeff Burton also have Cup wins at Martinsville on their driving resumes.

After racing at Martinsville Speedway the drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will move on to Texas Motor Speedway for the Samsung Mobile 500 on April 9.
