Montreal Alouettes Face B.C. Lions at Top of CFL Odds Board

The B.C. Lions came on strong midway through the CFL season and refused to look back. An eight-game win streak put them in the discussion of the league’s top teams and now, with the final week of the season approaching, they can clinch the top spot in the West Division.

The good news? With the No. 1 spot comes a first-round bye. The bad news? They’ll have to get through the reigning champion Montreal Alouettes to do it.

Though the Lions currently sit tied at 10-7 with both the Edmonton Eskimos and Calgary Stampeders, they hold the tie-breaker over each. That means, regardless of how Edmonton and Calgary fare in Week 19, B.C. can clinch their spot with a victory of their own. They’re also at the top of Bodog’s CFL futures board with 9/5 odds of winning the Grey Cup.

If the two-time defending champion Alouettes win the final week of the contest, however, the Lions are no longer in control of their own fate (but would still take No. 1 if both Edmonton and Calgary lost).

For Anthony Calvillo and the Als, the game is of similar importance, although they lack a tie-breaker over their East Division rival Winnipeg. A Montreal victory would put the Alouettes in a position to steal the first-round bye out from under the Blue Bombers, but it wouldn’t guarantee it.

Think you now how the final positioning will play out?
