MLB Odds – Wednesday Baseball Betting Picks

by Dirty on October 26, 2014

The US Open odds are oh-so close and there’s no better way to pass the time while we wait than to kick pack and bet on some Major League baseball. Let’s make some picks for Wednesday’s action.

Wednesday, June 17, 3:45 p.m. ET

Matt Palmer (6-0, 4.11) vs Tim Lincecum (6-1 2.66)

What’s the deal with Matt Palmer? Is he for real at 6-0? Well, forgive me for not being sold. He has unbelievable run support from his Angels teammates at 9.5 runs in his six wins. Not only will the Angels be hard-pressed to generate as much offense with Torii Hunter nursing a rib injury, but they also have to swing the bats against some guy named Tim Lincecum. Tiny Tim is up to his usual dominant tricks and has been especially strong at home, sporting a 3-0 record and 2.41 ERA. Palmer has given up four-plus runs in five of eight starts, so his luck is due to run out. The Giants will be a massive sportsbook favorite and, while the Angels would give good upset value, sometimes you shouldn’t overthink your MLB predictions. Go with San Fran.

MLB betting pick: Giants

Tigers Cardinals odds: Edwin Jackson (6-3, 2.24) vs Todd Wellemeyer (5-6, 5.50)

Why are the Tigers MLB odds so strong these days? The young pitching is coming into its own, and that definitely includes Edwin Jackson. The former top prospect with the Dodgers bounced around and flirted with the “bust” label before really rounding into form this season. His walks are down, he’s not allowing hits either, and his sparkling 2.24 ERA puts him near the top of the AL. Better yet, he has a 1.55 ERA away from Comerica Park, so he’s set up well to succeed against the Cardinals.

The Tigers couldn’t have an easier matchup than Todd Wellemeyer. He’s been horrific at home and he’s allowing long balls at an alarming rate. It’s great betting management to go with Detroit on Wednesday.

MLB betting pick: Tigers
