MLB Betting – AL Division Leaders Look To Open Second Half In Style

Betting on Major League Baseball

While most preseason sports betting projections didn’t have the Chicago White Sox listed as the favorites to lead the American League Central in to the All-Star break, the same certainly cannot be said about the other two AL division leaders. The defending AL champion Texas Rangers lead the majors in wins, with the AL East-leading New York Yankees right behind them in that race. All three division leaders will look to open the second half of the regular season on the right note, with the action set to resume with a full slate of games for this Friday.

Los Angeles Angels @ New York Yankees

Friday, 7:05 PM ET

The Yankees will open the second-half with the first game of what many feel could still be a potential Wild Card round preview, as they host Albert Pujols and the Los Angeles Angels. Neither Pujols or the Angels as a team have lived up to the high expectations that online betting fans had for them at the beginning of the season, but they are still in the hunt for a Wild Card spot with time to turn things around. New York has one of the best home records in the majors, and while they were the better team in the first half of the year, look for Los Angeles to come out of the break strong to begin the second half.

MLB Betting Pick: Los Angeles Angels

Chicago White Sox @ Kansas City Royals

Friday, 8:10 PM ET

Few had the White Sox ranked ahead of the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central, but the sixth-ranked offense in the majors has helped make a relatively mediocre pitching staff look better than it is, and Chicago is leading its division. There is still a long way to go If the White Sox are going to win their division this season, but opening the second half against Kansas City appears to be a perfect situation. The Royals are treading water near the bottom of the AL Central, and Chicago’s offense should have no online MLB betting problem getting to a pitching staff that ranks 28th in quality starts and 23rd in ERA.

MLB Betting Pick: Chicago White Sox

Texas Rangers @ Seattle Mariners

Friday, 10:10 PM ET

With eight players sent to the All-Star game and more wins than any other team, the Rangers were clearly the class of the majors through the first half of the season, and there is no reason to think they will slow down anytime soon. Texas ranks first in the majors in nearly every significant offensive category, and have three starters with an ERA better than 3.00. The Rangers open the second half against a Mariners’ team that is buried in the AL West with only 35 wins, and if their offense can open up the game with some early runs, they should have no problem cruising to an easy win in their first game back from the sportsbook break.

MLB Betting Pick: Texas Rangers
