Jacksonville (+3) Philadelphia – 7:30 pm ET Friday

Philadelphia’s management decided to end the McNabb era and hand the reigns over to Kolb. That wasn’t too surprising as he’s a good prospect, but it was strange when they shipped McNabb within the division to Washington.

Kolb knows he must have a big year or face the wrath of the tough Philly fans. McNabb never truly won them over after failing to win the Super Bowl, but they don’t want to take a step backwards. However, the Philly defense also has plenty of question marks after imploding in the second half of last year.

Kolb will start against Jacksonville before giving way to Michael Vick and rookie Mike Kafka (Northwestern). Vick is always exiting to watch, even in a preseason game.

Jacksonville is expected to finish last in the AFC South. The other three teams (Indianapolis, Houston and Tennessee) are all playoff contenders. Jacksonville Coach Jack Del Rio keeps coming back, although they appear headed in the wrong direction

Quarterback David Garrard is the starter once again, but may be on a shorter leash than in previous years. Luke McCown and rookie Trevor Harris (Edinboro) will be the next to come in.

Buffalo (+3) Washington 7:30 pm ET Friday

Washington coach Mike Shanahan is new to the team and the Super Bowl winner was happy to scoop up the 33-year-old McNabb. He will start the Buffalo game before handing the reigns to Rex Grossman, John Beck and Richard Bartel.

Buffalo has a new coach in Chan Gailey and an exciting rookie runner/returner in C.J. Spiller. The Bills were undecided about their quarterback situation as well, but appear to have settled on Trent Edwards. Brian Brohm and Ryan Fitzpatrick will fight it out for the No. 2 spot.
