Home Dogs, Home Heroes

In the 2002 regular NFL season, after all 256 games had been played 92 match ups had lines with home teams being underdogs. These match ups  are some of the most watched and wagered on games in the regular season. The home dog match ups rarely happened during the playoffs as the Home teams are usually the better team.

Bettors on NFL regular season games found a trend that happened in all 92 games. In all 92 games, the home teams got the not so bad record of 42-50 straight up this year. Last year’s record had the home dogs bagging 53-37-2 or a win percentage of 58%.

The home teams specially those who know that they are looked down as under dogs carry the most pressure in playing in front of their home fans. They are much willing and motivated to prove the people and the media wrong in labeling them as the underdogs. The pressure and the convenience of the home court advantage give the home dogs a greater chance to win their match up.

Bettors know this player’s attitude so they put most of their investments on the home teams in every home dog games. The players do not bet money on their games but their careers are at stake in their every game especially the home court games.
