GIQ WNBA Summary — Minnesota Lynx 109, Phoenix Mercury 80

by Frisco Del Rosario on November 18, 2014

The night Seimone Augustus went down with her knee injury, Phoenix beat Minnesota 104-80, and one Mercury said the loss of Augustus “broke them”. As if a 24-point thumping didn’t provide enough revenge motive for the Lynx, the statement did, and they crushed the Mercury 109-80 in the return.

Roneeka Hodges, who took Augustus’s place in the starting lineup, and Candice Wiggins, who assumed the primary scoring role, each scored 22 points. For the Mercury, Diana Taurasi was limited to 8 points, and no three-point goal for the first time in 55 games.

The Lynx won every important statistical category. Both teams made their eighth game over the total.
