GIQ WNBA Summary — Seattle Storm 65, New York Liberty 58

by Frisco Del Rosario on September 2, 2009

The Storm won its sixth game in a row to pull within one game of the Western Conference lead, while the Liberty — 2.5 back of fourth with four left to play — are done.

Seattle had scored 40 points after three quarters, but 25 in the fourth. They hit their last 17 free throws, 24-of-29 total. Since a seven-game losing streak ATS from 7/28 to 8/15, the Storm have won five in a row ATS, and have managed to win two straight without team leader Lauren Jackson.

New York had won 6 of 10 to stay within shouting distance, but 58 was their lowest score since Anne Donovan took over as coach on Aug. 1. The Liberty continue to confound their bettors, alternating wins and losses against the spread since Aug. 11.
