GIQ WNBA Preview — Sacramento Monarchs at Seattle Storm
By The General on Jul 09, 2009 with Comments 0
Both teams believe they are on an uptick.
The Monarchs have a full roster at last, and improved to 3-8 with two wins in a row. In their road win at Minnesota, Sacramento won heavily on the boards; Seattle is worst in the league at rebounding. The Monarchs have beaten the spread in three straight games following a 1-6 ATS start.
Seattle lost three in a row to the spread, but they are glad to be home after giving up 175 points in two road games. The Storm stomped San Antonio, limiting the Stars to 29.8% shooting and a -24 rebound differential, easily covering -7.
The Storm have won two games against the Monarchs already, sweeping a home-and-home to start the season. In those two games, Storm center Lauren Jackson scored 48 points. (Storm backers might count on LJ’s desire to bounce back from a 3-point night against the Stars.) The Storm are 3-0 SU and ATS against the Monarchs since 2008, winning by 10, 6, and 12.
Visitors to Key Arena average 63 points per game on 36.5 percent shooting. The Monarchs are shooting 37 percent on the road.
