Default EPL Thread Friday September 5th

Somewhat of a slow day as the teams prepare for World Cup qualifiers tomorrow.

Brazil legend Zico and former Juventus coach Didier Deschamps are other names in the hat to succeed Keegan. (The Daily Telegraph)

Zico would be a disaster in the EPL. Deschamps at least makes sense has he made public back in January he was interested in taking over at Newcastle.

West Ham have drawn up a shortlist of contenders to succeed Alan Curbishley as manager, with Zola, Slaven Bilic, Roberto Donadoni, John Collins, Michael Laudrup, Roberto Mancini and Gerard Houllier all making the cut. (Various)

Zola, and Collins can be had. The rest just don’t see them jumping at the chance to coach West Ham.

Former Hammers boss Alan Pardew, now at Charlton, is a surprise contender for the post. (Daily Star)

Sure hire back the coach that tried his best to get West Ham regulated back in 2006-07. Also was the coach that kept Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano on the bench when both were West Ham players.

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes insists he will be in charge of the players who come into Eastlands, despite the huge riches of the new Arabian investors. (Various)

Sure he is. Much like he had no idea about the Robinho transfer until it happened.

Robbie Fowler is ready to accept a cut-price pay deal with Blackburn in order to get a one-year deal. (Daily Mirror)

It’s not like many EPL teams are calling for the former Liverpool striker’s services.

Theo Walcott is set to start for England against Andorra on Saturday, in place of David Beckham. (Daily Mirror)

I could have a good game against Andorra. Would be good for Walcott’s confidence to have a good 90 minutes against Andorra mind you.
