As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't get better than Wayne Gretzky. There have been a bunch of great Olympic athletes in my time. A lot of people would point to Michael Jordan.

No, I am all behind Wayne Gretzky.

But I never saw him live.

If we're talking live, that limits me quite a bit. I have not experienced a ton of live sports.

Steve Carlton comes to mind. I saw him pitch at Olympic Stadium in Montreal in the early 80's.

I just remembered, I did see Wayne Gretzky live. I saw him play in a tournament in Brampton, Ontario when he was playing for Brantford and he would have been about, oh I don't know, 12.

Slipped my mind.

So my vote is Wayne Gretzky no matter what.

this might sound crazy to some, but if we're talking pure athletic ability that i saw in person, the first that comes to mind is probably deion sanders when he played for the falcons.......but i'm going to keep thinking about it.
