Today in the Daily Sports Roundup: The NFL’s preseason schedule comes to a close, while the Tigers meet the rival Twins, and the college football campaign gets underway.

Colliding on the gridiron . . .

There is a full slate of 16 NFL preseason games on tap for Thursday, including two involving unbeaten teams: Baltimore at St. Louis, and San Diego at San Francisco. The 3-0 Ravens have dispatched the Panthers, Redskins, and Giants in consecutive outings, but they’re 3-point underdogs for Thursday’s contest against the 2-1 Rams (with the total at 38). The 3-0 Niners have beaten the Colts, Vikings, and Raiders so far in the preseason, and they’re 3.5-point favorites against the 1-2 Chargers on Thursday night (with the total at 36). The Ravens game starts at 8pm ET; the Niners start at 10pm.

Elsewhere around the NFL on Thursday it’s Buffalo at Detroit (-4.5), New England at the Giants (-3), the Jets at Philadelphia (-1.5), Atlanta at Jacksonville (-3), Carolina at Pittsburgh (-5.5), Denver at Minnesota (-4.5), Chicago (-3) at Cleveland, Tampa Bay at Houston (-2.5), Miami at Dallas (-3.5), New Orleans at Tennessee (-7.5), Green Bay at Kansas City (-5.5), Seattle at Oakland (-3.5), Washington at Arizona (-5.5), and Cincinnati (-6.5) at Indianapolis. The Colts sit with the Chiefs and Bears as the only winless team so far in the preseason; Indy has fallen to the Niners, Bills, and Packers.

There are also 18 college football games on the schedule for Thursday, including seven with lines from the oddsmakers: Southern Miss vs. South Carolina (-13.5), Marshall vs. Ohio State (-28.5), Northern Illinois vs. Iowa State (-4.5), Pittsburgh vs. Utah (-3), Minnesota (-3) vs. Middle Tennessee, Florida Atlantic vs. UAB (-15), and Southern Cal (-21.5) vs. Hawaii. The Trojans come into the year at No. 14 in the AP Top 25 poll, but they are ineligible for the postseason because of sanctions handed down by the NCAA.

Meeting up on the diamond . . .

There are four games on the American League schedule for Thursday, with Oakland at the Yankees, Boston at Baltimore, Cleveland at Seattle, and Detroit at Minnesota. Justin Verlander (14-8, 3.58 ERA) is expected to get the ball for the Tigers in that last matchup, while Scott Baker (12-9, 4.55 ERA) counters for the Twins. Righthander Verlander got stuck with a no-decision against the Blue Jays in his last trip to the mound despite giving up just two runs on five hits over his eight innings of work. Righthander Baker is coming off a win over Seattle in which he gave up two runs in his 6 2-3 innings.

As well, the National League has just two games on tap for Thursday, with Philadelphia at Colorado and the Mets at Atlanta. Johan Santana (10-9, 3.02 ERA) is slated to take on Tim Hudson (15-5, 2.24 ERA) in that Mets/Braves matchup. Lefthander Santana has lost three straight starts, and he also fell to the Braves back on August 2 (four runs over seven innings of work). Righthander Hudson dazzled the Marlins last time out, holding them to just one run over seven innings while fanning 13 batters. The Braves are 8-2 in Hudson’s last 10 outings, and he was the winning pitcher on August 2 against the Mets.

Rounding out the Roundup . . .

Finally, the WNBA’s Western Conference Finals tip off on Thursday night with Phoenix at Seattle. The Mercury and Storm both swept their first-round playoff series last week; Phoenix knocked off San Antonio 92-73 in Game 2 of their set, while Seattle is coming off an 81-66 Game 2 win over Los Angeles. The oddsmakers have the Storm pegged as the 6-point home favorites for Thursday’s matchup, with the total for the contest at 178.5.

Week 1 of NCAA football betting has finally arrived and not a moment too soon. Are you ready to get back into the game?

After the always-loathsome offseason, schools across the country are ready to square off for the title of nation’s best, and Bodog’s online sportsbook wants to make sure you’re not cut from the action.

College football kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 2 with fan favorite Marshall on the road against No. 2-ranked Ohio State, plus it’s a big first day back for the Hurricanes (No. 13), the University of Southern California (No .14) and Pittsburgh (No. 15), who play Florida A&M, Hawaii and Utah respectively.

And you can expect one mother of a work-out on Saturday, Sept. 4 as No. 1-ranked Alabama makes its debut against San Jose State, followed by a pair of games worthy of any player’s attention: both No. 6-ranked Texas Christian versus No. 24-ranked Oregon State and No. 18-ranked North Carolina versus No. 21-ranked LSU.

Will TCU succeed in holding off the Oregon State Beavers? Or will Jacquizz Rodgers lead his team over the Horned Frogs to make Beaver Nation proud? And with Jordan Jefferson in the saddle, will Louisiana State manage to overthrow the slightly-favored Tar Heels?

As time-tested coaches, grizzled veterans and wide-eyed rookies of the NFL prepare for the fourth and final week of the NFL preseason all across the country, most guys back at home will be slow to move as they ease their way back into the game.

Don’t be that guy. Be a player.

Be the player that’s good and ready to jump into the game.

Your NFL preseason betting this week is headlined by a match-up with enough animosity to fill an hour of prime time television, regardless of whether Tom Brady and Eli Manning suit up for the contest or not. And in order to give the New York Giants/New England Patriots rivalry its due diligence, you’ll need to stay sharp from kick-off until the final whistle blows.

Fresh off a defeat at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens, New York will host the Patriots in a game bound to stir up memories of the 2007 Super Bowl. When the two clubs square off in New York this Thursday it will mark the sixth consecutive time the two teams have closed out preseason together, with each winning a game a piece since that fateful day in February of ’07. Emotions will run wild in New Meadowlands Stadium this time around, which is why you’ll want to keep a clear head while placing your NFL bets on Bodog this week.

Elsewhere in the NFL, the Miami Dolphins will try their luck in Texas against the struggling Dallas Cowboys. In an attempt to get his disappointing squad up to Week 1 standards, Dallas head coach Wade Phillips has tossed around the idea of playing his starters in one last attempt to get them in season-worthy condition. It’s a bold move that might affect your approach to the preseason finale, so choose wisely when betting online.

One question on the minds of Broncos fans is whether or not first-year quarterback Tim Tebow will feel well enough to play against the Minnesota Vikings after cautiously missing Week 3 with sore ribs. Tebow originally sustained the injury in the opening round of the preseason begging the question of whether or not the former Florida Gator’s wild style of play is well-suited for the NFL.

What’s your call? Close out the NFL preseason on a high note with Bodog. After all, you do have a long season ahead of you. (Can you say, “SWEET?”)

Be a player. Get your NFL football game odds, lines, props and futures at Bodog.

Get up to $500 Free by clicking here. Check out all the MLB lines now.

Boston Red Sox (-140) at Baltimore Orioles – 7:05 pm ET

Baltimore took the opener on Tuesday night and has won four straight. Boston has lost three straight pending Wednesday’s final score.

Brad Bergesen (6-9, 5.55 ERA) has pitched much better in August at 3-0 with a 2.72 ERA. Baltimore has won his last five starts after dropping his previous six. He’s 1-2 with a 3.71 ERA lifetime against Boston.

Daisuke Matsuzaka (8-4, 4.19 ERA) missed his prior start with a back problem. He had his season debut in Baltimore on May 1 after starting the season on the DL (neck). He got lit up for six earned runs over 4 2/3 innings. His career ERA is 7.30 at Camden Yards.

New York Mets (+140) at Atlanta Braves – 7:10 pm ET

This is the final game of a four-game set. Atlanta took the first two games by outscoring New York 18-5.

Santana (10-9, 3.02 ERA) has seen the Mets lose his last three starts with a total of five runs of support. His ERA is actually lower on the road (2.83) than at home (3.24). He pitched at Atlanta on August 2, allowing four runs over seven innings.

Hudson (15-5, 2.24 ERA) continues to have a great year and health is a big reason why. He had 13 strikeouts last game against Florida and has 22 quality starts in 27 outings. He’s also 10-3 with a 1.83 ERA at home.

Hudson beat Santana on Aug 2, allowing one earned run and six hits over six innings.

Detroit Tigers (+100) at Minnesota Twins – 8:10 pm ET

Detroit has killed bettors on the road this year at 22-42.

Justin Verlander (14-8, 3.58 ERA) is the team ace although Max Scherzer is coming on extremely fast. Verlander has a much higher ERA on the road (4.53) than at home (2.63). Detroit has lost his last five road starts, but his ERA is just 3.71.

Minnesota’s Scott Baker (12-9, 4.55 ERA) has seen Minnesota win his last seven starts (3.02 ERA). Baker is 8-3 at home, compared to 4-6 away.

When the two clubs square off in New York this Thursday it will mark the sixth consecutive time the two teams have closed out preseason together, with each winning a game a piece since that fateful day in February of ‘07.

The 2010 NCAA football season is finally here. Believe it. Week 1 kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 2 and it marks the return of No. 2-ranked Ohio State University vs. fan favorite Marshall in a battle that may well surprise the Buckeyes, particularly if their minds start wandering over into Week 2 (a matchup against the No. 13-ranked University of Miami).

But the big start to the 2010 campaign goes down on Saturday, Sept. 4 with the No. 1-ranked defending champions Alabama Crimson Tide, who will host San Jose State.

The most anticipated match ups of the weekend will no doubt include No. 6-ranked TCU versus No. 24-ranked Oregon State, as well as No. 18-ranked North Carolina versus No. 21-ranked LSU.

Be sure to watch plenty of game tape if you hope to make your mark as a player in this year’s big debut. Get in the game. Get your college football odds, props and futures at Bodog Sportsbook.

NCAA football betting is back and Bodog wants to put you back in the game. This week marks the nationwide debut of college programs across the country, including the defending champions, No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Ohio State.

Suit up and weigh in on any number of matchups, including No. 6 TCU vs. No. 24 Oregon State, and No. 18 North Carolina vs. No. 21-ranked LSU.

Go back to school and be a player – at Bodog.

When your college football team takes to the field, where will you be? Be a player.

No. 6-ranked Texas Christian will have their work cut out for them in Week 1 as they begin their 2010 NCAA football campaign against No. 24-ranked Oregon State on Saturday. Just last season, the TCU Horned Frogs battled their way to an undefeated 12-0 season before falling to Boise State in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

Excluding the Fiesta Bowl loss, Texas Christian was undefeated against top-25 opponents in 2009, topping both Utah and Brigham State. With quarterback Andy Dalton back for his senior year in Arlington, expect much of the same success.

Looking to spoil a consecutive undefeated regular season before it can even begin are the Sean Canfield-led Oregon State Beavers. Oregon State finished the 2009 campaign with a modest 8-4 record before getting hammered by Brigham Young in the MAACO Bowl in Las Vegas last December.

In a matchup that considerably favors the Horned Frogs, the Beavers will have nothing to lose, making them an intriguing choice for bettors looking to start the 2010 season off with an impressive upset.

Have a feeling that TCU will hold strong? Then get in on the action. Be a player.

Be a player. Get off the bench and get your NCAA football Week 1 odds at Bodog Sportsbook.
