Betting on Winnipeg Blue Bombers Football

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats came up empty against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers three times this season, but fresh off of an unexpected victory over the two-time Montreal Alouettes in the East Division Semifinals, anything can happen when the two meet against this Sunday.

The Ti-Cats may have been the only playoff team in the CFL with a sub-.500 record, but that didn’t stop them from pulling off the biggest upset of the year. Now, with what some might consider the biggest hurdle out of the way (despite Winnipeg being the No. 1 seed) the Ti-Cats have moved up the Grey Cup odds board.

According to Bodog, the Ti-Cats have 7/1 odds of winning the champion. The mark is still the lowest in the league, but a vast improvement over what it was heading into the postseason.

The Blue Bombers, in contrast, have 12/5 odds of making good on their upstart 2011 campaign and wresting control of the Grey Cup. Though Winnipeg was not without its share of skeptics as long as the Alouettes were in the picture, their path to the championship looks more clear now.

There is a reason that teams play the games, though, and similar reasons that explain why it’s the Ti-Cats playing on into the Division Finals and not Montreal; anything can happen in the CFL playoffs.
