Bet Jamaica Daily Sports Roundup: November 20
November 20, 2008
The Steelers will be looking to win - and secure the payday - on Thursday night when they play host to the division-rival Bengals. Here’s a look in your Daily Sports Roundup.
The Gridiron Spotlight
Pittsburgh picked up an 11-10 victory in their Week 11 matchup against the Chargers, although a referee’s error on a Steelers scoring play at the end of the game prevented them from covering the posted spread. That puts Pittsburgh at 7-3 straight-up but just 4-6 against-the spread through 10 games. Ben Roethlisberger went 31-of-41 for 308 yards passing with no touchdowns, while Willie Parker ran for 115 yards on 25 carries.
Not be outdone the Bengals also turned in a strange result last week, as they ended up in a 13-13 tie with the Eagles. Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 29-of-44 pass attempts for 261 yards in the game for Cincinnati, with one touchdown strike, while Cedric Benson ran for just 42 yards on 23 carries. T.J. Houshmandzadeh had 12 catches for 149 yards and a score. The Bengals are now at an ugly 1-8-1 SU on the year, and they’re 4-6 ATS.
Pittsburgh and Cincinnati met back on October 19, with the Steelers rolling to a 38-10 win as a 9-point road favorite. The combined score of that contest went OVER the posted total of 36.5 points; Pittsburgh is 5-5 on the OVER/UNDER this season, while Cincinnati is 3-6-1. Last season the Steelers were 2-0 SU and ATS against the Bengals.
Other Notable Events
There are only two games on the NBA schedule for Thursday night, but they’re both marquee matchups - Detroit at Boston, and the Lakers at Phoenix. The Suns had their modest two-game winning streak snapped on Monday night as they fell 109-97 on the road versus the Jazz. Amare Stoudemire scored 30 points in that loss, and Steve Nash picked up 14 points and eight assists. The Suns are now 8-4 SU and 6-6 ATS this year.
The Rest of the Schedule
There are eight games on the ice on Thursday, including Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks playing on the road in Dallas. Rounding out the NHL’s slate for Thursday: Florida at New Jersey, Pittsburgh at Atlanta, Montreal at Ottawa, Vancouver at Minnesota, Detroit at Edmonton, Calgary at Colorado, and Washington at Los Angeles.
Thursday’s college football action sees No. 23 Miami taking on Georgia Tech. The Hurricanes have won five straight games, slipping past Virginia Tech 16-14 in their last outing; that put Miami at 7-3 SU and 5-4 ATS on the season. The Yellow Jackets fell 28-7 to North Carolina in their last game, and they’re now at 7-3 SU and 6-2 ATS. The oddsmakers have Georgia Tech listed as a 3.5-point home favorite, with a total of 40.5.
Finally, the top college basketball action on Thursday will take place at Madison Square Garden, where they’ll stage the semi-final round of the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament. The 7:00pm ET contest sees Duke taking on Southern Illinois, while UCLA and Michigan will meet up in the 9:00pm ET game. The championship is set for Friday night.

MLB Playoff Betting - NLDS Series will boil down to pitching
September 29, 2008
By Betonline.com
Online sportsbook customers and MLB betting enthusiasts will have an exciting sports betting opportunity beginning this week as MLB playoff betting gets underway. There’s a couple new faces in the NLDS betting pool this year with the Brewers vs. Phillies matchup and the Dodgers vs. Cubs matchup as well. Without question, the backbone of all four of these squads has been their pitching, and the rotations and bullpens will be at war for the first round.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Philadelphia Phillies
It would appear that the Phillies have every conceivable advantage in this series (including home field!), and will thus be favorites on MLB playoff betting odds. The glaring concern for the Brew Crew is their bullpen, because unfortunately, C.C. Sabathia cannot pitch every single night. Question marks run far deeper than Eric Gagne—Solomon Torres isn’t exactly a proven post season dynamo himself. Those looking to bet on the MLB playoffs should beware of the Brewers in close games. Meanwhile, Phillies closer Brad Lidge has been lights out this season, backing up a solid pitching staff headed by Cole Hamels.
Both teams love to use the long ball, but nobody does it better than the Phillies, with MVP candidates Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley and dark horses like Jason Werth and Pat Burrell. MLB postseason betting sharps are intrigued by the Phillies depth, and will be adding them to their MLB playoff picks all week despite the MLB playoff odds and NLDS odds.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Chicago Cubs
Two coaching legends will duke it out in this series, with the NLDS betting odds in favor of the resurgent Cubs in this one. While Chicago’s pitching rotation is super-deep, with 17-game winner Ted Lilly saddled up as the fourth starter, they’re vastly unproven in terms of NLDS betting. Rich Harden and Carlos Zambrano are two power pitchers who have yet to truly taste the postseason, and can certainly be an anomaly at times. The Dodgers will counter with veterans such as Derek Lowe and Greg Maddux, who will certainly be underdogs on MLB postseason betting lines, however might be the X-factor in this series.
Experience may be the ultimate clincher in this series, and with an experienced staff and a proven winner like Joe Torre behind the bench, the Dodgers could shock the MLB betting world and prevail as NLDS betting underdogs.
Staying in the game against all odds

How to keep yourself in the game
Let me guess, you are wagering too much money on each game that you play. I bet you are wondering how it is that I know this. That is because for the longest time now I have studied money management and it is pretty clear to me that approximately ninety-nine percent of people who bet on sports are in fact, wagering way too much!
Think about this for a second, would you wager twenty-five percent of your retirement savings account on something that most likely had a forty percent chance of dropping to nothing by tomorrow? The answer is pretty well a no right? Now here is another question for you to mull over, why is it that so many people who bet on sports are willing to chance losing over twenty percent of their money on just one game? The sad fact is that it is extremely easy to risk it all and not even realize it.
Would you take the chance?
This is a pretty touchy subject among people who bet on sports and other events. You can understand why, they have a real problem, most of the time they dont realise it before its too late. Now, if you were offered a ten percent advantage in a game of chance, (45% for the house vs. 55% in your favor) for a total of 500 bets, would you take that chance?
The answer unfortunately is yes, you would jump into that proposition with both feet and a blind fold! Over a course of time (500 bets to be exact), the law of average will say that you might end it all with close to 55% of winners (275 wins vs 225 losses). Now if you were betting one hundred dollars for each bet you would happily walk away with approximately $5,000 right? Piece of cake!
Here is another bit to mull over in your mind. Say that perchance, I told you that you were able to begin the game with only $500 (which would be your bankroll) and that if you lost all of that money, that you would not be able to replenish your supply of cash. Now think about it, in retrospect you could say that I was MAKING you bet 20% of your money on each bet. Here is the kicker, would you take that chance? Would you be able to outsmart me for a mere five thousand dollars?
Now a smart person would be telling themselves, “No, don’t do it, walk away!” but you feel that familiar magic pull that keeps you there, the rush of adrenalin that courses through your body as you stand on the gap between winning and losing. You are definitely going to lose everything in this type of situation.

Bet Jamaica Daily Sports Roundup: September 27
September 26, 2008
No. 2 Oklahoma will get a visit from No. 24 TCU in one of the top matchups on the college football schedule for Saturday. Here’s a look in today’s Daily Sports Roundup.
The Gridiron Spotlight
The No. 2 Sooners could start tasting that top spot in the rankings after No. 1 USC was shocked by Oregon State on Thursday night. To get there, though, they’ll have to take care of business against No. 24 TCU on Saturday night. Despite sitting in the Top 25 the Horned Frogs aren’t getting much love from oddsmakers or bettors in this matchup; they’re pegged as big 18.5-point underdogs (with the total set at 54.5).
Oklahoma could have competition for that No. 1 ranking, though, from No. 3 Georgia. The Bulldogs have a tough game on tap against No. 8 Alabama on Saturday night, but if they are impressive enough in a win they could inherit top spot in the polls from the Trojans. Georgia is listed as a 6.5-point favorite, with the total pegged at 44.5 points.
There is one other matchup of ranked teams on Saturday, and that’s No. 22 Illinois vs. No. 12 Penn State. The Nittany Lions are 15.5-point faves, with the total at 55.5 points.
Other Notable Events
Other college football games involving ranked teams on Saturday: Mississippi at No. 4 Florida (-22), Mississippi State at No. 5 LSU (-25), Arkansas at No. 7 Texas (-27), No. 9 Wisconsin (-6) at Michigan, No. 13 South Florida (-9.5) at N.C. State, Minnesota at No. 14 Ohio State (-19.5), Tennessee at No. 15 Auburn (-6.5), Navy at No. 16 Wake Forest (-16), Weber State at No. 17 Utah (no line), Maryland at No. 20 Clemson (-11), Houston at No. 23 East Carolina (-10.5), and No. 25 Fresno State (-7.5) at UCLA.
The Twins will send Glen Perkins (12-4, 4.50 ERA) to the mound on Saturday afternoon against the Royals and Gil Meche (13-11, 4.05 ERA), while the White Sox will go with Javier Vazquez (12-15, 4.46 ERA) vs. the Indians’ Zach Jackson (1-3, 6.04 ERA) on Saturday night as the teams continue to jockey for top spot in the AL Central division.
Over in the National League the teams still looking to clinch playoff spots will all be at home on Saturday afternoon, with the Mets hosting Florida, the Phillies hosting Washington, and the Brewers getting another visit from the NL Central champion Cubs.
Also, the third round of THE TOUR Championship will get underway Saturday morning.
The Rest of the Schedule
Rounding out the American League slate for Saturday: the Yankees at Boston, Tampa Bay at Detroit, Oakland at Seattle, Toronto at Baltimore, and Texas at the Angels. Meanwhile, the other National League games are Atlanta at Houston, Cincinnati at St. Louis, Colorado at Arizona, the Dodgers at San Francisco, and Pittsburgh at San Diego.
The Western Conference Finals continue in the WNBA on Saturday afternoon, with Los Angeles at San Antonio. The Sparks won Game 1 of the series at home on Thursday night 85-70 behind a 22-point performance from Lisa Leslie. Ann Wauters led the Silver Stars with 18 points. San Antonio is pegged as a 3.5-point home favorite for Game 2.
Finally, the Canadian Football League has two games on its Saturday schedule: Calgary (-9.5) at Toronto at 7pm ET, and Hamilton at British Columbia (-12.5) at 10pm .
News from the Wire
Donovan McNabb (chest), Carson Palmer (elbow), and Brett Favre (ankle) are all expected to start for their respective teams on Sunday . . . Buccaneers wide receiver Joey Galloway (foot) is not expected to be able to play this weekend . . Ravens running back Willis McGahee is still having trouble seeing, and might have to miss the team’s game on Monday night . . . Eagles RB Brian Westbrook (ankle) is questionable as well.
A Peek at the Future
Sunday is the last day of both baseball’s regular season and the PGA Tour’s FedExCup playoffs . . . the WNBA playoffs continue on Sunday, with New York at Detroit and Los Angeles at San Antonio (if necessary) . . . the Sprint Cup Series stages the Camping World RV 400 presented by Coleman at Kansas Speedway on Sunday . . . and, of course, there is plenty of NFL on Sunday, including Philly at Chicago at 8:15pm ET.
NCAA Matchups – Key SEC Games Star On College Football Saturday
September 26, 2008
A win over the Florida Gators would have set up for a tantalizing Tennessee versus Auburn odds but after Florida pimpslapped the Volunteers, there’s isn’t as much intrigue.
The big SEC betting line of the week will be Alabama versus Georgia betting, which has Georgia favored by nearly a touchdown. There’s been trash-talking going back-and-forth this week between the two teams so expect another classic SEC game.
Auburn will cover the spread if…: They play as good as they did last week. Auburn nearly beat LSU, who needed a last-second touchdown to get the job done, so if they put forth the same effort, they should beat Tennessee, who has been listless this season. Bet Auburn for the win and cover.
Alabama will cover the spread if…: They play smash-mouth defense. After back-to-back road games against South Carolina and Arizona State, the Georgia Bulldogs might be a little tired when they get home. If Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide bring their typically physical brand of football, they’ll keep this game close. Bet on Alabama to keep it tight.

Bet Jamaica Daily Sports Roundup: September 26
September 26, 2008
Baseball’s pennant races and a Big East matchup on the gridiron highlight the Friday night schedule, with some WNBA playoffs as well. Here’s your Daily Sports Roundup.
The Gridiron Spotlight
Connecticut has done nothing but win so far this season, rolling past Hofstra, Temple, Virginia, and Baylor to a 4-0 record. That doesn’t mean the Huskies have been profitable, however, as they’re just 1-2 ATS in games that have received lines. Louisville lost their opener 27-2 to Kentucky, then knocked off Tennessee Tech and Kansas State to get to 2-1 on the season. The Cardinals are 1-1 against-the-spread in those games.
The Huskies have the 4-0 record, but the oddsmakers are going with Louisville at home in this game. The Cardinals are listed as 3.5-point favorites, with the total at 50 points.
Other Notable Events
The Brewers will be looking to get a win out of Jeff Suppan (10-10, 5.06 ERA) when they host the Cubs and Ryan Dempster (17-6, 2.99 ERA) on Friday night. The Mets, Milwaukee’s NL Wild Card rival, is expected to go with Mike Pelfrey (13-10, 3.70 ERA) in their home game against the Marlins and Chris Volstad (5-4, 3.10 ERA) on Friday.
Francisco Liriano (6-3, 3.39 ERA) will start for the Twins on Friday as they try to keep pace in the race for top spot in the AL Central; his opponent will be the Royals and Kyle Davies (8-7, 4.21 ERA). The White Sox are set to go with John Danks (11-8, 3.20 ERA) in their Friday night matchup against the Indians and Scott Lewis (3-0, 1.42 ERA).
As well, golf’s THE TOUR Championship will continue at East Lake in Atlanta on Friday.
The Rest of the Schedule
The Red Sox will host the Yankees at Fenway Park on Friday, while Tampa Bay will be in Detroit, and the Angels will get a visit from Texas. The rest of the American League schedule: Toronto at Baltimore, and Oakland at Seattle.
Philadelphia is hoping the Mets continue to hit the skids this weekend as they try to lock down the NL East title; the Phillies host Washington on Friday. Making up the rest of the National League schedule: Atlanta at Houston, Cincinnati at St. Louis, Colorado at Arizona, Pittsburgh at San Diego, and the playoff-bound Dodgers at San Francisco.
In the WNBA the Eastern Conference Finals get underway on Friday night, with Detroit at New York. The Liberty opened as 1.5-point favorites to win Game 1, but the Shock opened as -250 favorites to win the three-game series (which continues on Sunday).
And finally, there’s one game on the Canadian Football League’s schedule for Friday, as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers get a visit from the Edmonton Eskimos. The oddsmakers have the Bombers as 1.5-point favorites, with the total at 54 points.
News from the Wire
The Brewers would like to use Ben Sheets to start a game at some point over the weekend, but his sore elbow makes him questionable . . . Key Eagles offensive players Donovan McNabb (chest) and Brian Westbrook (ankle) may both come down to game-time decisions this weekend . . . Steelers running back Willie Parker (knee) is now expected to miss two games . . . Derek Anderson will remain the Browns’ starting QB.
A Peek at the Future
Early games on Saturday involving ranked college football teams include Minnesota at No. 14 Ohio State, Mississippi at No. 4 Florida, Arkansas at No. 7 Texas, No. 9 Wisconsin at Michigan, and Tennessee at No. 15 Auburn . . . the top matchups, though, are going to take place on Saturday night, with No. 24 TCU at No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 8 Alabama at No. 3 Georgia, and then finally No. 22 Illinois at No. 12 Penn State.
College football betting – Wisconsin vs. Michigan lines, Illinois vs. Penn State odds
September 25, 2008
By BetOnline.com
No. 9 Wisconsin Badgers (-3) at Michigan Wolverines (+3) - Saturday, September 27 at 3:30 p.m. ET
In a classic Big Ten matchup, Wisconsin vs. Michigan lines favor the Badgers (1-1) by three points after Wisconsin escaped Fresno State with a narrow win last week. The Badgers’ 13-10 victory was a gritty one. P.J. Hill put up 112 yards on the ground while the Wisconsin “D” made several key stops.
The Wolverines (1-2), meanwhile, are reeling from a 35-17 loss at Notre Dame. Michigan made a ton of mistakes, turning the football over six times. Things aren’t going well for head coach Rich Rodriguez, who’s coaching his first season in town after arriving from West Virginia with much fanfare.
Those turnovers are a big reason Wisconsin vs. Michigan odds are leaning Wisconsin’s way. The Wolverines trailed 21-0 at one point during the first quarter against Notre Dame and, with the Badgers being a much better team, similar errors will easily bury Michigan’s chances.
This simply isn’t Michigan’s year. Wisconsin looks solid if unspectacular and it’s hard to believe the mistake-prone Wolverines can compete with the Badger defense. For Wisconsin vs. Michigan betting, go with the Badgers.
No. 22 Illinois Fighting Illini (+13.5) at No. 12 Penn State Nittany Lions (-13.5) - Saturday, September 27 at 8:00 p.m. ET
In another key Big Ten battle, Illinois vs. Penn State odds heavily favor the home side. The Nittany Lions (4-0) have obliterated their competition this season, including a 45-3 demolition of Temple last week. That runs their points for/against to an absurd 211-40.
Running backs Evan Royster and Stephfon Green have been sensational, both averaging over seven yards a carry while combining for 11 touchdowns. With a running game like that, the Illinois vs. Penn State lines start to make even more sense.
The Illini (2-1) are on the verge of slipping out of the Top 25. They barely escaped with their lives against Louisiana-Lafayette despite playing at home, winning 20-17. Considering these teams have been on opposite sides of the spectrum, we like the home team to cover in Illinois vs. Penn State betting.
