It’s Kevin Harvick atop the standings as the Sprint Cup Series heads to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for this Sunday’s race, the Shelby American.

Harvick didn’t win either of the first two races of the season, but with a pair of Top-10 results at Daytona and Auto Club he’s holding down top spot in the series standings.

Clint Bowyer, Greg Biffle, Daytona champ Jamie McMurray, and Jeff Burton round out the standings’ current Top 5. Jimmie Johnson, who won at Auto Club over the weekend, enters Sunday’s race in 12th place.

Harvick finished second to Johnson at Auto Club, with Jeff Burton third, Mark Martin fourth, and Joey Logano fifth.

Kyle Busch, who was 14th at Auto Club, won the Shelby 427 at Las Vegas last season. Carl Edwards won at Las Vegas in 2008, while Johnson took the checkered flag there in three straight races from 2005 to 2007.

Matt Kenseth (two), Burton (two), Jeff Gordon, and Mark Martin have also picked up Cup wins at Las Vegas in their careers.

After racing in the Shelby American the drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will move on to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Kobalt Tools 500. The March calendar also features the Food City 500 at Bristol, and the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 at Martinsville.
