Bet Jamaica Coke Zero 400 Preview

by Dirty on July 4, 2009

- Joey Logano will look to build on his first career Sprint Cup Series victory on Saturday night when he hits the track at Daytona International Speedway for the Coke Zero 400.

Logano won the rain-shortened Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon, holding off Jeff Gordon and Kurt Busch to cash his first checkered flag. David Reutimann and series points leader Tony Stewart finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in that race.

Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Sam Hornish Jr., Jimmie Johnson, and Kasey Kahne rounded out the Top 10 in the Lenox Industrial Tools 301. Dale Earnhardt Jr. was 13th, Denny Hamlin was 15th, Greg Biffle was 18th, and Matt Kenseth ended up in 22nd.

Stewart’s lead on Gordon in the driver standings is down to 69 points after 17 events this season. Johnson sits third on that list, 169 points back of Stewart. Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Hamlin, Ryan Newman, Kyle Busch, Biffle, Kenseth, Mark Martin, and Juan Montoya also sit above the Chase cutoff line. Logano moved up three spots to 21st.

Kyle Busch won the Coke Zero 400 last year, while Kenseth took the checkered flag in the Daytona 500 to begin this season. Gordon has six career Cup wins at Daytona, most recently in 2005, while Stewart and Earnhardt Jr. have two apiece. Johnson, Biffle, Newman, and Kevin Harvick have each won once on the track in Cup events.

After racing at Daytona the drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will move on to Chicagoland Speedway for the LifeLock.com 400. The July schedule then ends with the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway; that race will take place on July 26.
