Basketball Odds – Cavs need defense, other scorers to step up in Orlando

by on October 11, 2014

Those looking at Cavaliers Magic odds have been keeping close tabs on an impending upset, as Orlando has cooled off Cleveland and hold a 2-1 series lead heading into Tuesday’s Game 4 at Amway Arena. The Cavaliers are favored in your sportsbook, and they’ll need to give some support to their MVP at both ends of the floor, but they’re definitely worth an online bet in this crucial contest.

Cavs Magic odds – Tuesday, May 26, 8:30 PM ET

There is only so many times that LeBron James can save the Cavaliers, and it started to show in Game 3’s 99-89 loss. James had 41 points (his seventh career 40-point game in the playoffs, and second in three games), to go with nine assists and seven points, but he had a terrible time with his jump shot, going 1-of-8 from beyond the arc. It looks like his legs are tired, but yours would be too if you had to carry the Cavs the way James has. Zydrunas Ilgauskas (nine points), Mo Williams (15 points) and Delonte West didn’t give their MVP very much help, combined to shoot 11-of-37 from the field, including 4-of-15 from three-point land. The Cavaliers were also uncharacteristically undisciplined, committing 34 fouls in a scrappy game, and they sent Orlando to the line 51 times.

The Magic made 39 of those free-throw attempts, powered by a solid showing from Dwight Howard, who was 14-of-19 from the charity stripe. D-12 had 24 points and nine boards before fouling out on a questionable call late in the game. Hedo Turkoglu also had a great night at the line, hitting 11 of 12 attempts, which made up for a terrible 1-of-11 performance from the field. Mickael Pietrus scored 16 and added six boards off the bench, and he also played some great defense.

Cavaliers Magic betting is favoring Cleveland by a single point on the road in Game 4, and we all know that James is going to come to play. The question is, will his teammates? This is the reason that the Cavs went out and got Williams, to take some of the pressure off of James, and maybe an elbow from Orlando’s Anthony Johnson has sparked him. The Magic can’t win another game with Turkoglu shooting that bad from the field, and they won’t get to the line another 51 times, as the Cavs’ defense will be more disciplined. Take the Cavs’ basketball odds on Tuesday.
