Arena Football League – A New Rising Game
July 13, 2008
Arena Football League started in year 1987 even when doubts were there. The games are usually held indoors and on an 85 feet wide and 50-yards long playing field. The AFL as it commonly referred to, is participated by players who did not make it to the NFL because of either they are too small or too slow for the NFL games. Also, AFL opened a chance for the game to create more offensive, high-scoring games as opposed to the NFL’s overused defensive style.
At the start there were only a few small successes in the AFL but in 2002, it changed the game’s fate. That year, the organizers teamed up with NBC to broadcast the games on TV. True enough it had given the AFL a chance not only to survive, but to prosper and become more widely known. An added strategy, it airs while the NFL is not playing, so it fills a void for football fans during the usual “doldrums of summer” many football fans endure.
As its popularity is rising, AFL has also shown an increase in bookmakers in Las Vegas and Online. Many personalities believe that the AFL really has a future, and the best is yet to come. Personalities such as Bob Scucci, a sportsbook manager and Ken White, new owner of Las Vegas Sports Consultants are among the AFL’s most avid observers, with the latter even considered an expert of AFL.
