NASCAR Betting – Sprint Cup Back At Daytona

June 30, 2009

19-year-old NASCAR phenom knew he’d do it and so do the entire online sportsbook betting community, it’s just nobody thought he’d do it this way.

Logano won in the weirdest of fashions and admittedly, he wasn’t expecting to pull it off. He talked about being lost on the track but a veteran crew chief got him into place and when the rains came, he was basically saved. Had the race continued, Jeff Gordon likely would have won but instead, the rookie gets his first improbable win.

As we glance at the Daytona odds for the summer race, Gordon should be among the favorites. Among all the active drivers heading to the second Daytona race of the season, Gordon is the leader with three career wins. Overall, on restrictor plate races, Gordon is also the active leader with 12 wins. And in 16 races at Daytona, Gordon has nine Top-10’s.

The entire Hendricks team does pretty well with drafting, which mean Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin are all worth a look as well. DEI has seven wins while Martin and Johnson each have two.

Kyle Busch has a pretty good average on restrictor-plate tracks and even though he hasn’t dominated the sport like he did last year, you can’t ignore his pedigree. His average finish is 15th, which is fifth among active drivers.

Most betting management experts will avoid Logano this weekend even though he did win at Loudon. Logano got smoked at the Daytona 500, finishing dead last and even though he’ll have a boost of confidence from his most recent win, he hasn’t shown enough to be trusted.

Keep an eye on David Ragan as a sleeper pick. Ragan has five Top 10’s in 10 restrictor plate races, so he may finally break through with a win.

Bet Jamaica MLB Preview – Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

June 30, 2009

The Colorado Rockies and the Los Angeles Dodgers will both be trying to pick up a win on Tuesday when they battle at Dodger Stadium.

The Rockies will pin their hopes on the pitching of righthander Jason Marquis in this game. Marquis has a 9-5 record and a 4.22 ERA this season.

Starting this game for the Dodgers will be ace Chad Billingsley. The righthander has a 3.10 ERA to go along with a 9-3 record this season.

Oddsmakers currently have the Dodgers listed as 164-moneyline favorites versus the Rockies, while the game’s total is sitting at 8½.

Andre Ethier’s walk-off blast in the bottom of the 13th inning lifted the Dodgers past the Rockies 4-2 on Monday night.

Los Angeles won as -135 home favorites as the game played UNDER the 8-run total posted by oddsmakers.

Starting pitcher Randy Wolf drove in two runs for the Dodgers, while James McDonald picked up the win in relief for Los Angeles.

Ryan Spilborghs went 2-for-5 with a two-run jack for Colorado, as Joel Peralta took the loss after allowing Ethier’s game-winning homer.

Team records:
Colorado: 40-36 SU

Bet Jamaica Daily Sports Roundup: June 30

June 30, 2009

Today in the Daily Sports Roundup: The Giants and Cardinals both send big guns to the mound in St. Louis, and the Red Sox try to pick up a win in Baltimore.

Meeting up in the Junior Circuit  . . .

John Smoltz (0-1, 9.00 ERA) will make his second start as a member of the Red Sox on Tuesday night when his team plays on the road against the Orioles and Rich Hill (3-2, 6.03 ERA). Righthander Smoltz was tagged with a loss in his season debut against the Nationals last time out, allowing five earned runs over five innings of work. Lefthander Hill also took a loss in his last trip to the mound, getting knocked around for six earned runs over his 4 1-3 innings by the Marlins.

Elsewhere around the American League on Tuesday it’ll be Seattle at the Yankees, Tampa Bay at Toronto, the Angels at Texas, Minnesota at Kansas City, Detroit at Oakland, and the White Sox at Cleveland. Clayton Richard (2-1, 4.33 ERA) will get the ball for Chicago; Richard has a no-decision in each of his last four outings. Cliff Lee (4-6, 2.92 ERA) will be on the hill for the Tribe; Lee has given up more than three earned runs in just one of his last 10 trips to the mound.

Taking the field in the Senior Circuit . . .

It’ll be Randy Johnson (7-5, 4.68 ERA) vs. Chris Carpenter (5-2, 1.78 ERA) on Tuesday night when the Cardinals play host to the Giants. Lefthander Johnson impressed in a victory over the Athletics last time out, surrendering just one earned run on six hits over his seven innings of work. Righthander Carpenter was beaten by the Mets in his most recent start, despite allowing just three earned runs over seven innings. St. Louis is 1-3 in Carpenter’s last four outings.

Also on the National League slate for Tuesday: the Cubs at Pittsburgh, Washington at Florida, Philadelphia at Atlanta, Arizona at Cincinnati, Houston at San Diego, Colorado at the Dodgers, and the Mets at Milwaukee. New York will be turning to ace Johan Santana (9-5, 3.08 ERA) in that matchup; Santana beat the Cardinals last time out, allowing two runs over seven innings. The Brewers will counter with Mike Burns (0-1, 3.72 ERA); Milwaukee is 0-2 in his two outings.

Rounding out the Roundup . . .

Finally, the WNBA offers up three games on Tuesday night as the league closes out its June schedule: Washington at San Antonio, Sacramento at Chicago, and Minnesota at Atlanta. The Lynx have won two straight games despite missing star guard Seimone Augustus (who is out for the season with a knee injury). Minnesota pounded Phoenix 109-80 in their last outing on Saturday; Roneeka Hodges and Candice Wiggins each poured in 22 points for the Lynx in the victory.

GIQ WNBA Summary — Minnesota Lynx 109, Phoenix Mercury 80

June 28, 2009

The night Seimone Augustus went down with her knee injury, Phoenix beat Minnesota 104-80, and one Mercury said the loss of Augustus “broke them”. As if a 24-point thumping didn’t provide enough revenge motive for the Lynx, the statement did, and they crushed the Mercury 109-80 in the return.

Roneeka Hodges, who took Augustus’s place in the starting lineup, and Candice Wiggins, who assumed the primary scoring role, each scored 22 points. For the Mercury, Diana Taurasi was limited to 8 points, and no three-point goal for the first time in 55 games.

The Lynx won every important statistical category. Both teams made their eighth game over the total.

GIQ WNBA Summary — Indiana Fever 63, New York Liberty 54

June 28, 2009

Believers in the idea that the Fever could repeat Friday’s performance in the home-and-ome series — under the total and spread covered in regulation — won twice.

The Fever won the first half 34-23, ahead of -7, and well on pace to get under 141.

Tamika Catchings led the Fever in rebounds, assists, and steals. With 13 points, she was one off the team lead in scoring.

The Fever are on the longest winning streak in team history, and they have the best record ATS in the league.

The True Story of How PierO Really Got JimmyMac Paid by Oddsmaker

June 27, 2009

by PierO

The story of the public company is a bit complicate. I’m not even sure the public company is still trading. As a matter of fact neither Oddsmaker or Betonusa make mention of it on their web sites while Betonusa for sure used to.

I think what really happened is that the thieves that used to own (and probably still own in part) Oddsmaker needed a new look and used this Germany public company first called betonusa ag, then miobet, but then some kind of pump and dump scam went down (I guess scammers cannot refrain themselves) and that’s the last I heard of the public company (maybe 18 months ago) on the bookmaker site.

However I remained in touch with the guy that was the CEO and part owner of the public company and the few times I dealt myself with Oddsmaker complaints I always spoke to him who was always able to solve the problems and this time was no differernt. When he told me he was going to look into the case, few hours later EOG announced that the player was going to get paid.

Even if Shrink changed his mind about the player, does anyone really think that Oddsmaker would have paid simply because Shrink changed his mind?
Shrink with his new opinion about the player still needed OM to authorize the payment. And in the list of people involved in the case published by Shrink himself, I don’t see anyone who can take such a decisiion, which is why I sent the e-mail in the first place.

This is the last comment you will hear from me on this case. For me it is not important who did what. If EOG needs the recognition so bad they can have it. To me they are clowns and people who believe them are gullible players who probably deserve to lose money. I’m not even sure why someone like Mofome gets paid to moderate a forum. I wouldn’t hire him to clean my shoes. At least the SBR moderators they can take on a complaint with the confidence givern by their betting experiences and the strong connections of SBR as a site. What does Mofome knows or bring to the table beside 1 million posts, none of interest?

GIQ WNBA Preview — Phoenix Mercury at Minnesota Lynx

June 27, 2009

The Mercury bounced back from two losses with a road win in Washington, while making three more overs.

The Lynx’s scoring average has dropped to 65 points per game after a six games averaging 87. Candice Wiggins has stepped up to fill the main scoring role for Minnesota, dropping 25 on the Liberty Tuesday.

Minnesota was 1-2 in three revenge games last season, including a 96-87 loss to Phoenix at home. Minnesota has additional revenge motive in that it was during their 104-80 loss in Phoenix that All-Star Seimone Augustus went down with a season-ending injury.

GIQ WNBA Preview — Atlanta Dream at Connecticut Sun

June 27, 2009

The winner lands in fourth place in the East.

Atlanta, second in the league in scoring  at 83 points per game, falls off to 70 per game on the road, while Connecticut allows the fewest points off all.

However, Atlanta’s one road win was in Connecticut two weeks ago. Since then, the Sun have won two at home, including a 30-point revenge win against Chicago.

Connecticut, one of the league’s worst shooting teams, has improved to .433 in two home wins (winning by 43 combined). The Sun have had five days of rest, while the Dream are playing back-to-back. Last time the Dream played home-and-away, they gave up 25 turnovers in a loss at Washington.

At home, the Sun have totaled according to the habits of the visitors: under with the Stars, over with the Sky, under with the Liberty. The Dream are mostly an over team, except on the road, but at Mohegan last year, these teams hit 360 in two games.

GIQ WNBA Preview — Washington Mystics at Chicago Sky

June 27, 2009

One week ago, in Chicago at Washington -5.5, the home team was the day’s darling for WNBA handicappers, some of whom believed the Mystics were a strong enough play to merit two units.

When the Sky won the second quarter 26-11 behind 17 points from the bench to lead 39-29 at half, confident Mystics backers took the -7.5 second half.

The Mystics romped 52-33 in the second half, so they who picked Washington against the spread and the over for the game plus the second half won all four wagers.

Besides the revenge motive, the Sky are unbeaten at home, 2-1 ATS, with two overs.
