NBA Betting – Ailing Spurs take on young Thunder
March 31, 2009
March Madness betting players are familiar with Oklahoma City, as their top three players all featured in the last two NCAA Tournaments. However, this young team will have their hands full when they head to San Antonio on Tuesday night as a hoops betting underdog, but they could pressure a Spurs team that is feeling the effects of some injuries. Thunder vs Spurs odds – Tuesday, March 31st, 8:30 PM ET The Thunder are on a three-game skid, losing to the Lakers at home, then at Toronto and Boston by an average margin of 17.7 points. It’s been a long season for the Thunder in their first year in Oklahoma City, but the foundation is set for a powerhouse. Kevin Durant is a scoring machine that is only going to get better, while Russell Westbrook has made the race for Rookie of the Year a three-man show with Chicago’s Derrick Rose and Memphis’ O.J. Mayo. The key to it all could be Jeff Green, who does everything well and is the perfect Robin to Durant’s Batman. While the Thunder are 20-53, including a brutal 6-30 on the road, their young core has gained some valuable NBA experience. The Spurs won three straight, sandwiching home wins against Golden State and the Clippers around a victory at Atlanta, but San Antonio has some injury woes as we head into the homestretch. Tim Duncan’s ailing knees are preventing him from playing in back-to-back games, while Manu Ginobili is still playing his way into game shape after an injury-plagued season. The Spurs are not the powerhouse they usually are at this time of year, and while NBA betting players still have to watch a team that should finish in second place in the West, San Antonio’s age and health have to be a worry to sportsbook players. The Spurs will definitely be NBA betting favorites at home on Tuesday, as the Thunder have lost their last 10 trips to San Antonio and as we mentioned before, they’re awful on the road this year. The Thunder have scored 92.1 points a game in March, way down from February’s mark of 106.3 points, but they still have a decent mark of 6-8 this month, a marked improvement from February’s 3-9. Still, San Antonio’s experience and defense will find a way to earn the Spurs an NBA betting win on Tuesday. For more props and odds, visit BetOnline.com. March Madness Betting – Panthers look for revenge against Wildcats
March 28, 2009
Pittsburgh has yet to cover a March Madness betting spread so far in the NCAA Tournament, but at least they’ll have another chance to try on Saturday, when they take on Villanova in the East region final. The Panthers are the sportsbook favorites, and they’ll be looking to avenge one of their four losses this season. Villanova vs Pittsburgh odds – Saturday, 7:05 PM ET The No.3 Wildcats put a Big East beatdown on No.2 Duke in a 77-54 thrashing, as they held the Blue Devils to 26.7% from the floor, and outrebounded them 46-32. Scottie Reynolds was the high man with 16 points, while Dante Cunningham added 14 and 11 boards for the Wildcats, who overcame a poor three-point shooting night to snap a five-game losing streak to the Blue Devils. ‘Nova is 5-4 this year when they’re the online betting underdog. The top-seeded Panthers were trailing by eight at the half, but their defense kept them in it until Levance Fields’ late-game heroics to lift Pitt to a 60-55 win over No.4 Xavier. Fields scored five points in the final 50.9 seconds of the game, finishing with 14 while Sam Young led the way with 19 points for the Panthers, who shot only 33.8%, but held the Muskateers to 32.8%. The Panthers are 0-3 in covering their hoops betting spreads in the Tournament, and they’re now 15-11 as a sportsbook favorite. The Panthers are a 2-point favorite in this contest, but the Wildcats got the better of their Big East rivals when Pitt visited them in January. Villanova came away with a 67-57 victory as Reggie Redding had 18 points, while Pitt had 17 turnovers and DeJuan Blair struggled with foul trouble all game, playing only 20 minutes. The Panthers have yet to play their best game, but they’ll need to against ‘Nova, whose 14 wins over higher-ranked opponents is the highest in the history of the Tournament. The Wildcats won’t be able to bully Pitt the way they did to Duke, and Pitt is due for a big game. Bet on Pittsburgh to finally cover a March Madness betting spread on Saturday night.
