Bet Jamaica Daily Sports Roundup: October 31
October 31, 2008
Halloween offers up something scary for sports fans - an undefeated New York Knicks team. Here’s a look at each of today’s treats (no tricks) in your Daily Sports Roundup.
The Gridiron Spotlight
The Titans might be the only undefeated team left in the NFL, but the Vegas oddsmakers still have the defending champions listed as the Super Bowl favorites. The Giants are at 4/1 odds on the championship odds chart right now, with Tennessee just behind them at 6/1 odds. The Steelers fell to the Giants on the weekend, but they’re still third at 15/2 odds to win the Super Bowl. The Cowboys then sit in fourth with 8/1 odds.
And where are the preseason favorites? Well, the Patriots opened at 5/2 odds to win the Super Bowl, but they’re now back at 14/1. The Colts have slipped from 6/1 to 12/1 over the past couple of months, while the Packers have gone from 7/1 to 16/1 since the start of the season. You want a really big tumble? The Bengals dropped from 38/1 to 5000/1.
Other Notable Events
The Knicks had very few expectations heading into the season, while the Sixers are considered a potential contender in the Eastern Conference. Still, New York came up with a 120-115 home win over Miami in their season opener on Wednesday night, while at the same time Philadelphia was falling 95-84 to Toronto at home. The Knicks and Sixers will renew divisional hostilities on Friday night when they meet up in Philadelphia.
Also on the NBA’s calendar for Friday night: Sacramento at Miami, Chicago at Boston, Orlando at Memphis, Denver at the Clippers, and San Antonio at Portland. As well, the Raptors will be looking to run their record to 2-0 on Friday when they host Golden State.
The Rest of the Schedule
There are just two games on the ice on Friday night, as the National Hockey League offers up Dallas at Chicago and Vancouver at Anaheim. The Stars are coming off an impressive win on Wednesday night - they chased Minnesota Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom in a 4-2 home victory. Brenden Morrow scored his fourth goal of the season.
As well, there’s a single Canadian Football League game on tap for Friday, with Montreal at Edmonton. The 11-6 Alouettes have already clinched first place in the East Division, while the 9-8 Eskimos will finish fourth in the West Division. Edmonton is pegged as a 3-point home favorite on this night, with the game’s total listed at 55 points.
News from the Wire
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been missing some practice time this week because of a shoulder injury, but he’s still slated to play against the Redskins on Monday night . . . Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck definitely won’t play against the Eagles on the weekend because of his back injury . . . Rams running back Steven Jackson is hoping to be able to play against the Cardinals despite his quadricep injury.
A Peek at the Future
The Sixers will play on Saturday night as well - they’ll take on the Hawks in Atlanta. Other notable NBA games on Saturday: Cleveland at New Orleans, the Lakers at Denver, and Portland at Phoenix . . . NASCAR Betting - Jimmie Johnson looks to lock it up
October 31, 2008
By BetOnline.com
Online sportsbook customers, sports betting sharps and NASCAR betting enthusiasts are looking forward to a full slate of NASCAR odds, NASCAR spreads, NASCAR lines and NASCAR picks this weekend. This week NASCAR heads to Texas, where the NASCAR Chase For the Cup leader Jimmie Johnson is once again the online sportsbook favorite for this race. No. 48 has been absolutely dominant as of late, and put on one of the most impressive driving exhibitions in recent memory. Johnson was relgated to the back of the pack after a pit entry infraction, and was forced to weave his way through every single driver. In typical Jimmie Johnson fashion, the defending NASCAR Chase For the Cup champion made it all the way to second place and heavily padded his lead in the NASCAR standings.
Jimmie is an excellent NASCAR pick this week, however there’s plenty of value in the NASCAR betting field this week as well. Carl Edwards won the spring race here, and is always a threat when the race is on concrete, hence his nickname “Concrete Carl.” Edwards is definitely worth a look, as he’ll be racing hard and genuinely believes that he can still win the Chase, despite Johnson’s astronomical lead in the standings. A great sleeper this week is Denny Hamlin, who has never finished out of the Top 10 at Texas in his short career, and consistently gets great equipment from his stellar team in the garage. Head over to BetOnline.com and lay down these great NASCAR picks!

Boxing Odds - Boxing betting a hot topic in sportsbook circles
October 31, 2008
By BetOnline.com
Online sportsbook customers, sports betting sharps and boxing betting enthusiasts are looking forward to a stellar Jones Jr. vs Calzaghe betting matchup at Madison Square Garden on November 8th, 2008. This will be Joe Calzaghe’s last fight, according to him, and he’s doing it in style—a title fight on boxing, and sport’s grandest stage, New York City.
After dominating the middleweight division, Calzaghe has made the gutsy decision to move up to light-heavyweight to cap off his career, a decision that has worked well thus far. The Welsh fighter was met by Bernard Hopkins last year in his first light-heavyweight fight, which turned out to be a classic. “The Executioner” knocked Calzaghe down in the first round, however Calzaghe stormed back, kept the pressure on Hopkins and managed to squeeze out a split decision. Calzaghe was an undersdog on boxing lines, boxing odds, boxing spreads, and boxing picks.
Roy Jones Jr. is the underdog on on boxing lines, boxing odds, boxing spreads, and boxing picksin this bout, despite coming in with three straight victories. Jones Jr. is a great underdog boxing betting and boxing pick due to his extraordinary punching power, and familiarity with the light-heavyweight weight class and style of boxing. While Calzaghe likes to rush in, Jones Jr. is a power puncher, so the favored boxer may be playing to his strengths in this one. People may think it’s over for Jones Jr., but this bout could be a revival of a once incredible career!

Bet Jamaica Daily Sports Roundup: October 29
October 29, 2008
The World Series is set to resume on Wednesday (weather permitting), while many more NBA teams get going on their regular seasons. Here’s your Daily Sports Roundup.
The Gridiron Spotlight
The Titans vanquished the Colts on Monday night, which put them at 7-0 both straight-up and against-the-spread on the season (and four games up in the AFC South standings to boot). That makes Tennessee the most lucrative team in the conference; only the Ravens and Browns are close to them ATS, as they’re both at 5-2 vs. the line.
Over in the NFC there are six teams with five against-the-spread victories already - the Giants, Redskins, Eagles, Buccaneers, Saints, and Cardinals. The worst teams to support in that conference have been the Vikings, Lions, and Niners, who all have just two ATS victories. Overall, however, the worst team for your betting dollar this year has been the Broncos - through their seven games they are at just 1-5-1 ATS (but 4-3 SU).
Other Notable Events
Major League Baseball decided not to resume soggy Game 5 of the World Series on Tuesday night, so that pushes the contest to Wednesday night in Philadelphia (assuming they can get some decent weather). The game is tied 2-2 after 5 1-2 innings of play; Shane Victorino drove in both Philadelphia runs, while Evan Longoria and Carlos Pena picked up the RBI for Tampa Bay. Originally Game 6 was supposed to be played in Tampa on Wednesday, so that contest (if required) will obviously be pushed.
The Rest of the Schedule
The NBA regular season kicks into high gear on Wednesday night, with two dozen teams in action. The Oklahoma City Thunder will begin life at home on Wednesday against Milwaukee, while Mike D’Antoni will make his debut as the head coach of the Knicks when they play host to the Heat. D’Antoni’s former team, the Suns, will begin their 2008/09 campaign on the road; they’ll play in San Antonio on Wednesday night.
Rounding out the NBA’s Wednesday slate: New Jersey at Washington, Toronto at Philadelphia, Atlanta at Orlando, Sacramento at Minnesota, Indiana at Detroit, Memphis at Houston, Denver at Utah, and New Orleans at Golden State. As well, the Lakers will play their second game in two nights when they ‘visit’ the Clippers in a divisional battle.
Finally, there are three National Hockey League games on Wednesday night: Toronto at New Jersey, Minnesota at Dallas, and Detroit at Anaheim. After a slow start to the regular season the Ducks have turned it around of late, picking up the victory in each of their last four games. Anaheim topped Columbus last time out, winning 3-2 on the road.
News from the Wire
Shaun Hill will take over the Niners’ starting quarterback duties from J.T. O’Sullivan . . . Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck isn’t expected to return to action this week . . . Free-agent quarterback Daunte Culpepper is still rumored to be in the hunt for a job . . . Rams running back Steven Jackson is expected to play despite a sore quad this week . . . Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer won’t return from his elbow injury this weekend, and there’s still a good chance that he won’t be able to play for the team again this year.
A Peek at the Future
The Cavaliers will get back in action on Thursday night when they play host to Charlotte; the other two NBA games on the Thursday schedule are Houston at Dallas and New Orleans at Phoenix . . . the final Formula One race of the season, the Brazilian Grand Prix, will take place on Sunday, with Lewis Hamilton holding a 94-87 lead on Felipe Massa in the drivers championship. Ferrari leads the constructors championship.
NFL Odds - Big week in NFL betting
October 29, 2008
By BetOnline.com
Online sportsbook customers, sports betting sharps and NFL betting enthusiasts are looking forward to a full slate of NFL odds, NFL spreads, NFL lines and NFL picks this weekend. On the board includes an exciting Monday Night Football betting matchup, an AFC clash and an NFC East marquee battle.
Let’s take a look at the top three games on the BetOnline.com board this weekend!
This sure isn’t as well-hyped as the Patriots vs Colts betting matchups between 2003 and 2007, but sportsbook customers are still flocking to their computers to bet on this AFC matchup. The Patriots travel to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana to battle the Colts. Indy is coming off another crushing loss against division rival Tennessee, in which they could not stop the run. The Patriots will be coming after the Colts with fullback Kevin Faulk often, while still targeting Randy Moss deep down field. Bet on the Patriots.
When evaluating Cowboys vs Giants odds, one can see that the Super Bowl champions are favored in this matchup for the first time in a long while. With Brad Johnson at the helm, the Cowboys don’t have what it takes to unseat the G-men from the top of the NFC East standings. Bet on New York!
Even though the Redskins are favored in this one, the Steelers are the play thanks to their stellar defense, and run game that never seems to diminish. Bet the Steelers, and also bet the under with two low-scoring teams locking horns.

October 28, 2008
We have received notice from our poker software provider that as of Wednesday, October 29th, they will begin blocking connections from 13 U.S. states based on IP address. Therefore, we are sending an email to all those players that may be affected by this block. Below you will find a copy of this email.
Dear Player,
We have received notice from our poker software provider that as of Wednesday, October 29th, they will begin blocking connections from 13 U.S. states based on IP address.
If your internet service provider is based in one of the following 13 states, you may or may not be affected by this change:
Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Wisconsin, Washington and Kentucky.
Blocked connections will receive an error message upon attempting to login to the poker client. Please read the Common Concerns below and if you feel your connection to the poker client is being blocked in error, please contact customer service immediately at support@dbpn.com so that we may assist you in logging into your account.
Common Concerns:
- 1. I am not in one of the states above will there be any difference in my connecting to the poker client?
No, your account will not be affected. - 2. What is an IP address? An IP address is assigned to you by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). All users of the internet are assigned an IP address. This address can be used to roughly determine the geographic location of your ISP. The address returned from a lookup of your IP address is actually the address of your ISP rather than your physical address. This discrepancy may cause some players that are not from a blocked state to appear as though they are from a blocked state.
- 3. I am not attempting to connect from one of the 13 states above, but I am still having problems logging into the poker client. What should I do? We apologize for this inconvenience. State lookups based on your IP address are not always accurate. Please send an email to support@dbpn.com with your login name and a brief description of your problem.

Please contact support@dbpn.com if you are traveling through one of the states and are having a problem logging into your account.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes you and urge you to contact our 24 hour support services if you have any further questions. Click to visit our support page

NCAA Football Betting - Hot NCAA football betting action
October 28, 2008
By BetOnline.com
Online sportsbook customers, online sports betting sharps and NCAA football betting enthusiasts are looking forward to another action-packed week of NCAA football odds, NCAA football lines, NCAA football spreads and NCAA football picks. While it is a fairly light schedule in terms of big games, the three major games are absolutely massive. Let’s take a look at the three biggest game this week, the ones you should log on to your sportsbook and bet on!
The rivalry is restored after a year’s absence—a rematch of the Big 12 championship game in 2006. This should be an incredibly high scoring affair between two potent offenses that love to throw the ball. Sam Bradford has an incredible 29 touchdown passes this season, and should be good for several more in this one. While the Sooners struggled with Kansas State last week, they managed to put up so many points that K-State’s second half rally didn’t even matter. Head over to your online sportsbook and bet on Oklahoma, moneyline.
One of the country’s best offenses takes on one of the country’s best defenses in this inner state rivalry matchup. Texas Tech put up big numbers last week, but as always, the No. 1 Longhorns led by Coly McCoy did as well. Tough call in this one, but take Texas, moneyline, on the road.
Knowshon Moreno went absolutely nuts last week, and figures to do the exact same against a reeling Gators squad. Georgia’s defense is arguably the toughest in the nation, and Tim Tebow isn’t exactly playing like a Heisman winner—bet on the Bulldogs!
