“THE DIRTY DOZEN” PICKS — October 22, 2008

by Dirty on October 22, 2008

Okay guys and gals. Week one was a Success ….. Barely. I went 5-2 in the NCAA and a sorry 2-3 in the NFL for a grand Total of 7-5 for a Profit/Loss of +1.5 Units at -110 Odds. Granted Most of my plays are at reduced juice so the profit/Loss is different, but for these purposes we will use the -110 model.

We have a huge Weekend with far reaching implications coming up in NCAA Football. Huge Games in the Big Ten, SEC, and Big 12 that could ultimately shape the National Title Picture. Well lets get to my picks for this week shall we?

NCAA Football

  • 114 Miami (Fla) -3 – Still some Isolated 2.5’s out there but not many. Randy Shannon has got the Canes back on the right track. They are playing disciplined football and they are always tough at home no matter how good they are. They still have some of the best Talent in the nation and their team speed will be too much to handle for Wake on the road. Look for a 10 point win for the Canes here.
  • 122 UCONN – The Huskies are primed for a huge game and they will win this game easily. Look for Zach Fraser to play this weekend after his concussion last week. No way he misses this game with a chance at the Big Least Title on the line.
  • 124 Wisconsin +2 – Look for the Cornfed Dairy Farmers to right the ship this week and save their chance to go to a decent bowl game. They have played Like they have mad cow disease the last few weeks and that ends this week. With the weather turning colder and the ground getting harder it plays into power running teams favor. Illinois is a Funny team and Zook is building a potential powerhouse with the Fightin’ Illini, but they do not have the brute strength to win this game.
  • 157 Georgia +2 – UGA has had this game Circled for a long time. This was the game they have been most worried about after ASU. They have been on cruise control the last few weeks and Look for Stafford, Moreno and the SEC’s Best Young Receiver AC Green to have field days against a young and talented LSU Tiger Football team. Death Valley is a hard place to win at, and I suspect it will be this Saturday as well. Don’t expect UGA to be looking ahead to the Gaytors from Florida either. Both teams will be ready for a war down on the Bayou and expect one huge slobberknocker that will rattle your teeth on Saturday
  • 148 Arizona State +4.5 — Rudy Carpenter is all but 100% and look for Dennis Erickson to take a months worth of Frustration out on the Quackers from Oregon this weekend. ASU needs a big win and this may be it this year. They are getting 4.5 points at home and IMO they should be favored. They will beat the brakes off the Ducks and they will be taking their bills and going home after they have had their asses handed to them on a silver platter in the Desert on Saturday night
  • 174 Louisville +4.5 – They win this game outright. The Redbirds have talent but can’t seem to get it to click consistently. The South Florida Bulls will be overmatched this weekend when they travel to Louisville and finally get into some cool weather. Look for the Redbirds Track and Field Offense to be back in Full Force and to win this game by 3 TD’s. The bulls just don’t matchup well with the Cards.

NFL

  • 206 Miami Dolphins +1 — expect this line to move to a PK or -1 for Miami. This game is always brutal between these division rivals and I expect the fish to win by 10+ points in South Florida. The Bills are fresh off a huge win at home against the Chargers and Miami is not a bad football team. Anytime you can get a game near a pickem or getting points in a nasty rival game like this one you have to take it IMO.
  • 208 Dallas PK – Look for the world to be on Tampa Bay and their 5-2 record this week and jumping off the Dallas Bandwagon. Romo most likely will not play, but Johnson is not as bad as he played last week either. Jerry “The Mouse” Jones has been pitching a tizzy all week and has to change his diaper every 15 minutes and Bum’s Boy Phillips has taken over the defensive play calling. That is Bum Jr’s forte and expect the Cowboys to romp over a Tampa Team that is overrated.
  • 209 Atlanta +9 – The Iggles and McNabb host my Atlanta Falcons this weekend. My 4-2 Atlanta Falcons who have the future NFL Rookie of the Year in Matt Ryan and One of the Top Rushers in the NFL in Michael Turner. Look for the birds to pound the ball at the Iggles and throw just enough to effective against the Iggles. Mike Smith has brought a winning attitude to a franchise in disarray and I believe we catch the Iggles off guard and compete with Philly. I expect this game to come down to who has the fewest mistakes in the 4th quarter and should be a TD game or less.
  • 211 St. Louis +7 – NE is fresh off of Kicking the Teetotal crap out of Denver on Monday Night Football. This team is like Jekyl and Hyde and I expect a letdown against a Lambs team that is finally growing it’s horns back. Haslett will win NFL coach of the year if he takes this sorry assed team to the playoffs, but he is well on his way after changing this teams direction and attitude since he has taken over. Look for the Lambs to maybe even sneak out of NE with a Victory

220 Pittsburgh -3 – some scattered 2.5’s out there on this game, but the 3 is widely available. Look for Pitt to run the ball right at the Super bowl Champs and beat them down and pull out a hard fought 21-17 type game. It is going to be a brutal beatdown game like most of Pittsburgh’s games at home. Big Ben may not be pretty the he plays, but all this joker does is win….especially at home. Anytime I can get the Steelers at 3 or less at home you have to take them.

Betjamaica the players paradise
